So I found myself wandering the aisles of CVS the other day, as I often am, and in my mind there is a bloody Game of Thrones-style battle happening. On the one hand, I’m like, ugh CVS is unreal there’s so much stuff and everything is like, a dollar but then the other side of me is like, ok everything is full of sick and nasty chemicals and I don’t feel like reading the labels to figure out what I should buy ingredient-wise. It’s a really stressful time for me.
I obviously got over that and found some things that I actually really love and recommend.
For makeup, I was curious about the Instant Age Rewind Eraser and the Nuance Salma Hayek Flawless Finish Liquid Foundation. You can read my thoughts on the concealer here (spoiler alert: I’m in love) and as for the foundation, I’m equally impressed. With its skin adapting technology, this foundation lets your skin’s natural color shine through while smoothing out imperfections. It’s soft, light and has a powder-like, pearly finish. Bonus: paraben and cruelty free. I also picked up the Nyx Dark Circle Color Corrector Concealer. The orange color cancels out any darkness and it’s so light and blendable that it’s the perfect partner for the rest of my makeup routine. No creasing or caking thanks to the coconut oil its made with. Full disclosure it’s not the greatest thing in the world but in a bind, like if you’re stuck in the suburbs without a Sephora in sight, this shit’s for you, girl.
Certified organic and cruelty free, I’m in mega love with Shea Moisture SuperFruit 10 in 1 shampoo and conditioner. It’s designed for coarse hair, which I don’t have, so it’s ultra moisturizing and nourishing not only to my hair, but to my flakey-ass scalp (which is very, very dry). It’s also color safe so it’s one of the best affordable products out there for hair that takes a beating.
I’m such a sucker at the checkout counter literally everywhere, so I picked up some Blistex Dual Layer Lip Balm while I was paying. Ultra hydrating and SPF 15. That’s all.
