sweat-proof your {makeup}

Despite the fact that summer is over, between sprinting to catch the subway and walking in and out of sweltering hot buildings, I still find myself breaking a sweat. Fortunately, that doesn’t mean I have to look like a hot mess too. And between those rainy/windy days we’ve been having and that dreaded snow right around the corner, my look is definitely going to take a beating. Luckily, I’ve got some tricks up my sleeve for sweat-proof/weather-proof/life-proof makeup:

  1. Primer, Primer, Primer. I’m a huge advocate for primer; it creates a smooth canvas for your makeup to adhere to, kind of like the base coat of your manicure. Using a primer will help your makeup last longer, and a lot of them are multifunctional like Too Faced Primed & Poreless Skin Primer or Makeup Forever Step 1 Color Correcting Primer.
  2. Powder Your Nose. After you apply your foundation, it’s really important to use a powder. Try Mac Mineralize Skinfinish or Kim K’s go-to Ben Nye Banana Powder. This will set your foundation so that it won’t slide around (believe me, it will) and mess up your precision contour and highlighting.
  3. Set Your Makeup. Lock it all in with a setting spray like Urban Decay’s All Nighter. And for those partial to a loose powder, try the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder and lightly dust all over. It’s light and soft and really smooths out your makeup and keeps it lasting all day (& night!).
  4. Waterproof Errrythang. You know the drill. Waterproof mascara and eyeliner can be a godsend if you find it constantly dripping down your face. And don’t forget the power of waterproof brow products, such as Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade. This stuff lasts all day.
